May News

Spring has finally arrived

Snow is melting on the mountain!
The snow has left, and spring is finally showing signs of actually being here. The weather has been slow to warm up this year.  We are concerned about the snow in the mountains.  Please pray it will melt slowly so we can avoid flooding.  The conditions are such that should it melt rapidly we could be faced with a similar situation to 2007 when the area flooded extensively.

Baptism

I am so blessed by what God is doing here in Hazelton.  Just over a week ago now we celebrated  with a good friend as he was baptized.   Please pray that my friend will grow in his relationship with the Lord and become stronger in faith.

Richmond Chinese Alliance Church

God blessed our time together with the RCAC on May 2-6 as we ministered in the community of Kispiox. We spent time with a large number of young people, listening to the music and hearing Bible stories.  On Saturday night, we met at the church with young people from several of the communities for a Youth Night with games, dinner, music and ministry from the Word.  Please keep praying that the seeds sown into the hearts of young people would yield fruit for the kingdom of God.

Visit at Zion Lutheran Church

Zion Lutheran, North Highlands, CA
It was a privilege to join with the church group from North Highlands, California the last Sunday of April. The team from Zion, which ministers in the community of Moricetown, was greatly encouraged by our time together.  They had fun recording messages of greeting to the young people of Moricetown, and look forward to returning there this summer.

New Bible study begins

One of the most thrilling things to happen in the last month was the beginning of a Bible Study in the community of Kitwanga.  We had one couple the first meeting.  Last week eight people came!  They have been excited to study and learn from God’s word.  Pray for God to continue to bless this new study and minister to the hearts of those attending.

Welcome, Steve!

Misty River Ministries has a new intern for this summer!  Steve Sullivan is currently a student at Key-Way-Tin Bible Institute.  Steve has a wonderful testimony of how God set him free and made him a follower of Christ.  Pray that God would bless him and use him as he spends time with the people of the Hazelton area.

And now, a note from Steve:

"Hello! I am a native from northern Ontario and have been called by God to work with natives. With God's grace and mercy, I have overcome my addictions. And it is through God's grace and love that I am able to share what God has done in my life with others.
I grew up in a Christian home, knew about God and accepted Him into my life as a child.  But in my early adult life, I stuck my fist in God's face. Turned my back completely on Him!  Later in life, God reached out His loving arms and accepted me back into His family.
Presently, I am attending a native Bible college in Lac La Biche, AB, following the will of God. My prayer request is that God reveals His grace, mercy and love for me, and lets it overflow onto those around me. Pray also that I truly listen to God and others.
YBIC, (Your brother in Christ)

Can't do this without you

We are engaged in a ministry that is impossible without the hand of God reaching into the hearts and lives of individuals.  Through your daily prayer support for our ministry, we form a powerful team to declare the goodness of Christ in the gospel and freedom to the captives.  Thank you for your faithful, ongoing support of our ministry.
